According to a research paper released on medRxiv the new variant is more transmittable and vaccine-resistant than the existing Omicron variant news agency Sputnik. Frances public health agency had recently said that 624 percent of tests showed a profile compatible with the Omicron variant. The new variant from the lineage named B16402 is believed to have infected 12 people in the country according to a yet-to-be peer-reviewed study supported by the French Government.
